So y’all know about my obsession with healthy eating lately, no? I mean I just post about something health-related every day, but if you’re new to my blog then bonjour! So of course I rant on and on about my green smoothie and wheatgrass shots up the wazoo but after following Kimberly Snyder (renowned nutritionist) I have tried to start taking supplements to increase my health even further.
I’ve been in talks with a great website that sells all kinds of great supplements in one place, making everything easy to order with the touch of a button. Who really wants to be lugging a giant bag of supplements around on the subway, n’est ce pas?
My new supplements include spirulina, chorella and probiotics. Spirulina is a type of blue-green algae that is rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, and carotenoids, antioxidants that can help protect cells from damage. It contains nutrients, including B complex vitamins, beta-carotene, vitamin E, manganese, zinc, copper, iron, selenium, and gamma linolenic acid (an essential fatty acid). A number of animal and test tube studies suggest that spirulina increases production of antibodies, infection-fighting proteins, and other cells that improve immunity and help ward off infection and chronic illnesses such as cancer.
Chlorella, much like Spirulina, is loaded with an array of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that help detoxify the body of heavy metals and other contaminants. The single-cell algae also helps to prevent and repair DNA damage, balance the body's pH levels, fight inflammation, improve digestive health, and boost immune function. Make sure that you look into where your supplements are coming from because algae can suck up anything bad from the water that it grows in! Yuck-o!
According to nutritionist, Kimberly Snyder, probiotics supplements are an excellent source for someone like me who doesn’t get much otherwise. They work to replenish your body daily with all the benefits probiotics have to offer. Probiotics improve vitamin synthesis and absorption, and have the ability to manufacturing B vitamins right in your gut. Additionally, they improve liver health, resistance to allergies and immunity while increasing physical energy and allowing mental clarity.
If these type of supplements aren’t your thing then Predator also offers whey protein powder and protein supplements for you body builders out there!
What do you guys think about sports supplements? Have you used any of the above, love em? Hate em?
